Bananas Foster in the Wood-fired Oven

Bananas Foster like you’ve never tasted before! We’re taking this classic dessert to the next level by crafting it in our Yoder Wood-Fired Oven. The intense heat caramelizes the bananas and brown sugar to perfection, while the flames add a hint of smoky depth that’ll make your taste buds dance. INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 3-4 Bananas
  • 1/4 cup Banana Liquor (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Dark Rum
  • Vanilla Ice Cream

INSTRUCTIONS

Install pizza oven and set Yoder to 500 degrees. Allow the wood-fired oven to heat up and reach temperatures of at least 400-500 degrees before cooking.
1. Melt butter in nonstick pan on top of the oven.
2. While butter is melting, quarter the bananas. Cut in half and again lengthways, set aside.
3. When the butter is melted, mix in the brown sugar and cinnamon.
4. Place pan in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and mixture is bubbling. (Be careful not to burn the sugar)
5. Mix in bananas and banana liquor. Return to oven and allow bananas to begin to soften. (about 2 minutes)
6. Remove the pan, carefully pour in rum and return pan to oven.
7. After the rum has a moment to heat up, carefully move pan close to the fire side of the oven and tilt if necessary to ignite rum.
8. After the flames subside, remove the skillet from the oven and set to the side while preparing ice cream.

9. Scoop ice cream into bowls, add bananas around the edge, spoon sauce over top and serve immediately!
